30 years of great photography
1700 issues, 5 years of work and 140 images. Next Fall, the New York Times Magazine will publish a huge volume illustrating the last 30 years of its history through the photograps selected by award-winning photo editor Kathy Ryan.
Reportage, portraiture, style and conceptual photography, and photo illustration… A collection of the finest commissioned photographs worldwide, enriched by texts offering behind-the-scenes perspective and anecdotes by the many photographers, writers, editors, and other collaborators whose voices have been a part of the magazine over the years.
This is not a simple coffee table book to skip through, but a fascinating essay on photography and print magazines at this pivotal moment in their history and evolution.
The volume has been made in collaboration with Aperture Foundation and can be pre-ordered on Amazon.
