Sawdust, old signs and a single beverage, ale, served in half-pint glasses. Established in 1854,McSorley’s is New York City’s oldest Irish tavern, hidden among the skyscrapers of East Village. Presidents, residents, thieves and songwriters have sat at its tables. Outside the landscape has changed a lot, but inside you can still toast to the old motto “Be Good or Be Gone”, surrounded by old memorabilia.
