Before the Take
How does a great scene come to life? What hides behind the much praised magic of cinema? Turin’s Museum of Cinema brings the spotlights behind the scenes by displaying 146 photos taken on the sets of twelve great movies by reporters from the biggest photographic agency in the world, Magnum, founded in 1947 by Robert Capa.
Limelight, Rebel Without a Cause, Zabriskie Point, The Seven Year Itch… Auteur images offering a glimpse on the making, showing the faces, the expressions and the actions preceding the cinematographic act.
Not simple set photos, but photos revealing fresh details about the set and showing how a scene is built, take after take.
The exhibition also includes the original posters from the twelve movies from the museum’s collection and seven short movies documenting the set photographers’ work.
Last but not least, thirty photos of dancing actors are displayed on the museum’s external railing for everyone to see.
Until September 25.
