A dinner with a view
Milano, Piazza del Duomo. Besides the huge tree and the Christmas lights, since last December there’s another “alien” presence that hits the eye of whoever looks up toward the arch of Galleria Vittorio Emanuele.
A futuristic glass and steel cube standing right on top of the 18th century Palazzo delle Assicurazioni Generali. Luckily, it is not the latest creation of an eccentric archistar, but a temporary dining concept conceived by the Swedish appliance maker Electrolux Group called The Cube.
After debuting on the roofs of Paris and Brussels, The Cube “landed” in Italy, where it will stay until April 26 aprile before moving to Stockholm, London, Switzerland and Russia.
The idea is pretty simple: showing the Electrolux appliances at work in a sort of travelling kitchen hosting award-winning chefs from around the world.
In Milano, The Cube is hosting some great Italian chefs, offering all food enthusiasts the opportunity to see their idols at work – and to everyone else a chance to try a taste of haute cuisine in a surreal setting, with a breathtaking view of the cathedral’s spires .
You can make a reservation on the restaurant’s website, but you’ll need to be patient: The Cube can only host 18 guests at a time around a single large table. Needless to say, the prices reflect the uniqueness of the experience.
