A little taste of Cuba
New Yorkers might not be able to travel to Cuba, but certainly Cuba always finds its way to the Big Apple. After all, can you picture New York City deprived of the original Cuban Mojito made from scratch with yerba buena (yep, it shouldn’t be mint) served with spicy camarones?
There’s a great variety of Cuban restaurants in the city, from the fancy upscale five stars rated to the smaller casual luncheonette, and they’ve always played a great role and contribution to the culinary offer of New York.
But why do people adore Cuban restaurants? Truth is that the authentic Cuban dining offers “the all package”: good food, good music, good people.
Among the best-loved and best-rated Cuban restaurants in NYC, Cuba Café in Hell’s Kitchen is definitely worth a mention: here you’ll find the authentic island feel of La Habana in a colorful and tropical atmosphere that gets crazy and loud at night.
There’s no reason in the world to miss the sweet and spicy aroma of its mejillones al mojo de coco along with one of the best pineapple Mojito of the city.
Greenwich Village features two of the mejor Cuban restaurants in town, the glamorous Havana Alma de Cuba on Christopher Street, for a full-immersion of hot Latin live music and flowing sangria with the choice of eating in the crowd or chilling outside in the cozy garden, and the unique Cuba on Thompson Street, popular for its Cuban guys constantly rolling free handmade cigars.
And during the summer time, what’s better than cooling down for a happy hour at Ideja Latin Bistrò in Soho, the right place to say “bottoms up” for the endless list of Caribbean flavor drinks and what they call the best Mojito of New York City?
