A Moveable Feast
In one of the hardest years for the city of Ferrara, the year of the huge earthquake thar struck the Emilia-Romagna region last May, Ferrara Buskers Festival, the world’s greatest street music festival, is back in town for the 25th time without too many restrictions.
Every year, over 200 groups and street musicians from all over the world perform along the ancient streets and in the shade of the historic palaces of the city center in front of 800.000 spectators –a show that acquires a very special meaning given the scars left by the earthquake on such a valuable historic heritage but a few months ago.
This year’s edition, focusing on the themes of sustainability and European integration, features the usual calendar of non-stop daily performances from 6.00 pm to midnight (5.00 pm to 8 pm on Sundays) .
And because of Emila-Romagna’s deeply rooted gastronomic tradition, food will certainly not be missing: at the Duchesses’ Garden – between the Castle and the Town Hall, you’ll be able to try some of the local delicacies side by side with the artists.
Finally, if you wish to give your contribuition for the re-opening the local schools and the reconstruction of Ferrara’s historic heritage, keep in mind that 30% of the offers collected at the festival’s entrance will be donated for the recovery projects.
Until August 26
