Foodie Saturdays
Sharp-crested hills, towers and castles appearing on the horizon, vineyards extending as far as the eye can see. Piedmont’s Langhe are the kind of landscape that can really make you feel at peace with the world.
Unlike the sweet Chiantishire hills, which give their best with a mild weather, these harsh places should be experienced at Fall time, when the everything is wrapped in mist and cold and the pleasant smell of truffle spreads in the air because of the many festivals devoted to “black gold”.
Or rather “white gold”, since we’re speaking of the legendary Alba white truffles, the protagonists of a great annual Festival for connoisseurs and enthusiasts that’s being held these days (until November 13). As usual, everyone can smell, buy and taste truffles on the Fair’s grounds as well as in the market stalls and restaurants of Alba.
This year, the brand new Foodie Saturdays will offer all visitors the chance to book a chef-presented themed tasting matching local products and great wines. Here are the upcoming themes: anchovies and Roero Arneis (Oct.22); chocolate and Barolo Chinato (Oct.29); local beef and Dolcetto d’Aba (Nov.5); hazelnuts and Moscato d’Asti (Nov.12).
