Overdone pasta, stiff salad, industrial dressing and indistinct flavours. If that’s your idea of airrplane food, chances are British Airways will change your mind.
Britain’s national flagship airline – as well as 2012 Olympics Official Partner – had a brilliant and original marketing idea: opening a pop-up restaurant inside what looks like an aircraft cabin.
Although at first it might sound like a slightly kitsch concept, its accomplishment seems rather interesting: the somewhat expensive meal (50 pounds per person) is inspired by BA’s menu from 1948.
A 3-course menu featuring retro authentic British tastes, prepared by Michelin-star chef Simon Hulstone and overseen by Heston Blumenthal, owner of The Fat Duck”.
In other words, a nice opportunity to try top quality cabin food without flying first class – the same meal will be served to BA’s first class passengers next summer!
Flight BA2012 pop-up restaurant will be “landing” in Shoreditch, London, on April 4. For booking information, chek out British Airways’ Facebook page.
