Hipstamatic vs Instagram
In the beginning was Hipstamatic, the app that turned our smartphones into small toy cameras. Then came Instagram, and it stole the stage by letting even the most inexperienced photographers that they could shoot great pictures.
Yet, we stick with Hipstamatic. For in spite of its outstanding social sharing system, Instagram is basically a post-production software. On the contrary, Hipstamatic involves you, the user, in the act of choosing your personal lens/film combination, which gives you the (partly right) impression of being the author of the images you shoot. Not to mention the fact that you need to wait for the film to ‘develop’ before actually seeing the result of your choice, just like in the time of analog photography. The latest venture by Hipstamatic’s developers, Snap, is an iPad magazine featuring pictures snapped by users and photographers with our favourite photo app.
Flicking through Snap you will find some precious tips from the developers teaching you how to use the app to create better images along with some remakable contents such as well-written culture and lifestyle articles.
The design is pretty cool and the images look impressively good on the iPad screen. Last but not least, Snap is a free subscription, so it’s definitely worth a download.
