The New York Times Style Magazine defined them “deliciously bitchy”, and Vanity Fair UK “so cutting edge you could be lacerated if you’re not up to their cool pace”.
Apparently, Luxe City Guides are a favourite in London as well as in New York City.
What’s so cool about them?
Basically, the style: besides being small, light and pocket-size, they’re essential and straightforward: no unnecessary graphics or vague pictures – just the recommendations of people who actually live in the city itself, candidly expressed in a collection of frank and crisp reviews.
You might say that’s a bit “grumpy”, and yet it works – especially when you’re on a plane to your short-break destination and what you need are some quick and trusty tips to read on your way.
Needless to say, everything is quite luxury-oriented. Our favourite section is the one one on shopping, an essential guide to unique, handcrafted and handmade products.
The online updating system is super-smart: any last minute glinty bits that have caught the attention of Luxe’s editors is published monthly on the guides’ interactive website. Luxe mobile guides come with a year of free updates sent directly to your handset. Definitely worth a try.
