75 years ago, the first issue of Life made its debut in the US. Ever since, this legendary magazine has made the history of photojournalism, hosting the most eminent characters of last century on its covers, as portayed by some of the world’s best photographers.

 

Winston Churchill, Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Fidel Castro and Cassius Clay are but few of the icons depicted on the best covers and on the most iconic pictures selected and presented on the magazine’s website.

Not to mention the violence and the horror of wars – the Second World War and the Vietnam War – the frighened faces of nazi prisoners, the bombings, and Robert Capa’s incredible photographs of disembarkation in Normandy.
