A bike-friendly planet
It tones up your body, does not produce polluting emissions, lets you ride with agility through the traffic and doesn’t compel you to pay for the parking toll.
These are just a few of the “benefits of a bicycle” according to the Tee illustration a nice Tee illustration (see picture) that spread lately through the Web.
And it’s all true, of course. Yet, while bicycles are undoubtedly planet-friendly, in spite of some virtuous examples like the bicycle highway our planet is still quite far from being bike-friendly.
On this point, some days ago Yesmagazine published four interesting ideas coming from different parts of the world: a Dutch bicycle-schoolbus for ten; a bicycle repair workshop in Pittsburgh where you can learn how to fix your bike; bike-sharing on a large scale in the huge Chinese town of Hangzhou; and a Bike Fixation Kiosk in Minneapolis.
And since parking your bike is free but you still need some space, here’s another brilliant project that we found surfing through the net: the Bikehanger, a bicycle storage facility designed specifically for dense urban areas.
