Apparently, the mind of Jamie Oliver, Britain’s most famous (and rich) chef, is never at rest. The guy is constantly dreaming up new and successful ideas.

 

His latest creation is a deeply British and deeply retro restaurant chain called Union Jacks with a pleasant vintage flare: old mismatched Formica chairs and tables, vintage tellies,  a Fifties washed-out pastels color palette and a retro cinema-board menu.

 

And there’s no denying that the result looks awfuly cozy and welcoming.

Of course, the menu features more than a revisited British classic. What makes us preliminary skeptical, though, is the house specialty:  flats, the British and jamie-oliver-an version of pizza.

 

Yet, blasphemous as the idea of British pizza might sound to an Italian ear, we still owe young Oliver some faith – and besides his partner in crime is no less than Chris Bianco, America’s most beloved pizza maker. Definitely worth trying!
