Taxi driver revisited
Remember the “sweded” film concept from Be Kind Rewind? If you missed this amazing movie by the brilliant French director Michel Gondry, the man behind Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and The Science of Sleep, then you’d better make up for it soon.
To make it brief, a “sweded” film is the short, fan-made, low-budget version of a popular movie. As you can imagine, the result is invariably funny, to the point that an actual Sweded Film Festival has been founded in Fresno, California.
Anyway, the point is that Gondry himself has recently “sweded” a timeless classic: does the title Taxi Driver ring any bell?
Gondry’s version only lasts 2 minutes and 42 seconds, but it’s definitely worth watching.
In a sense, this is the first “auteur sweded film” ever. And it might also be a good opportunity to dust off the whole of Gondry’s fabulous filmography!
