London with a view

Although lately skyscrapers have been springing up more and more often, London is certainly not a breathtaking-skyline metropolis like Hong Kong or New York City. Yet, seen from above, the British Capital offers some very pleasant views: the winding river, the mixture of historical and ultramodern buildings, the wide green spaces…

Most tourists choose to climb on the London Eye big wheel along river Thames, but if you wish to discover a different point of view – skipping the queue and the entrance ticket and maybe sipping on a glass of wine while you enjoy the sight – all you need to do is get to know the city a little better. Here are a few ideas.

Parliament Hill
While being only 321 feet high, this open parkland area in Hampstead Heath offers a great view of London’s skyline, from Canary Wharf to the City and St Paul’s Cathedral. The perfect place for a romantic midsummer picnic.

Tate Modern Restaurant

Blue print Café
Looking out of this nice restaurant’s huge windows, you get the feeling that you could almost reach out and touch Tower Bridge. The view gets even better at night, when everything lights up and dinner here becomes an unforgettable experience.

Vertigo
The name says it all: the sight from this 597-feet-high champagne bar on op of Tower 42 (London’s second tallest skyscraper, in the heart of the City) is so breathtaking that it could make you giddy. Especially at sunset, with the help of those French bubbles…
