Made in Polaroid
What’s the link among Lady Gaga, Polaroid and a New York City non-profit organization providing arts and mentoring programs to under-served children? Not much, apparently, except for the well-known fact that the above-mentioned pop star has been the creative director of Polaroid (or what’s left of it) for over one year.
The third element requires further explanation: right after launching the first product from the Gaga-designed line Grey Label – a super-compact portable printer that lets you print 4 x 3 photos directly from your smartphone – Polaroid is opening an exhibition whose pieces will be auctioned with proceeds benefitting Free Arts New York’s educational projects.
The event will feature 50 works from a diverse group of celebrities, artists, photographers, fashion designers and musicians who have been asked to express themselves by using the new printer’s technology, all of them on view from September 9th through the 13th at New York City’s Phillips de Pury & Company’s gallery or at Polaroid.com.
In the picture above, one of our favourites: a collage of pictures from the New York fall/winter 2011 collections, Pitti Uomo in Florence and the men’s shows in Milan taken with an iPhone. The author is Brad Goreski, former stylist for Rachel Zoe.
