The frontiers of video sharing
A small film festival open to every single web user: 6,500 selected videos, nine award categories and an amazing jury. With the first Vimeo Film Festival & Awards, that took place this month in New York, Vimeo issued its final challenge to YouTube, introducing a different concept for video sharing and staking everything on quality. Promoting young and talented directors and video artists, Vimeo is an excellent showcase for those artists who didn’t make it to museums and International festivals, not to mention movie theaters.
Featuring directors, film actors and other industry professionals – including David Lynch and Roman Coppola – the jury examined a wide variety of works, ranging from documentaries to music video, from short films to original series, animation and so on.
A great chance for sharing something new and different, and for discovering how the film industry is going to change through to the Web. All the awarded videos can be watched on Vimeo’s website.
