Swimming on the 55th floor, 220 metres high, is likely to be a test of courage even for those who've never experienced vertigo before. And yet, this is the challenge that the English company Compass Ceramic Pools, which specialises in swimming pools, is also launching into itself with its ability to produce extreme pools.
Designed entirely in cast acrylic to be even more transparent than glass, it allows a 360-degree view of the English capital, hence the name Infinity London. Even the bottom will be transparent allowing those who swim to see through it but more importantly allowing those on the lower floor to see the incredible sight of the swimmers, who would thereby be transformed into bizarre furnishing accessories.
The designers also expect Infinity London to turn into a brilliant jewel at night, thanks to a clever play of lights, amplified by the refraction of water.
The technical difficulties are comparable to the wonder that the project will arouse. From the virtual renderings the most important issue already catches your eye: how do you get into this pool without steps?
