5 perfect destinations for the upcoming season


uckily, we have autumn: after the waves of summer tourism, the world’s cities go back to normal and as the leaves turn brown a new event season begins, with new exhibitions and performances everywhere in town. Here’s an imaginary autumn world tour to enjoy and experience this wonderful and refreshing time of the year.

Berlin (Germany)

From October 5 to 14, the Festival of Lights casts light installations on the city’s most important landmarks: but this is just one of the reasons to visit Berlin in autumn, when the warm colours of the leaves in the parks and the Spree make for a wonderful view. To greet the new season with a toast, head to the localOktoberfest in Alexanderplatz,then drop by the Berlin Graphic Days, festival (from September 28t to October 14) for a taste of avant-garde enriched with performances, live painting sessions and night markets.


Alba (Italy)

Tasting truffles is one of perks of autumn in Italy: Alba, sitting on the beautiful Langhe hills in Piedmont, is “the city of truffles”: every year, it hosts the International White Truffle Fair (from October 6 to November 25), and it is truly amazing to breathe history and mouthwatering aromas along its ancient streets. For those who want to add a touch of art to the experience, the local Fondazione Ferrero will host an exhibition (Dal Nulla al Sogno, October 27- February 25), featuring Dada and Surrealism works from the Bojimans Van Beuningen Museum in Rotterdam.

Bilbao (Spain)

Autumn is the perfect season to experience this creative and trendy city that has become one of Spain’s major destination thanks to art patronage and great architecture. Follow the great avenues from Piazza Moyua, lose yourself among the streets full of bars selling pintxos, the local version of tapas, stroll along the Gexo seafront and the alleys and squares of the old city. Also, don’t forget to visit the beautiful Guggenheim Museum designed by Frank Gehry, which will be hosting a nice retrospective on Alberto Giacometti from October 19 to February 24.

Beijing (China)

September, October and November are probably the best months to visit Beijing: the days are still quite long, the temperature is pleasant, the wind blows away the smog and the sky resumes its authentic colors. The opportunity is perfect to discover all the great landmarks, such as the Temple of Heaven, the Forbidden City or the Great Wall. In the north-eastern area, distretto artistico 798, named after an old factory that was located in the area, is an extraordinary open-air factory with over 600,000 square meters of workshops, ateliers, studios, galleries and small shops where you can discover local avant-garde contemporary art.


Vancouver (Canada)

With beaches on one side and lush mountains covered in woods on the other, Vancouver truly is a magnificent setting. In the fall, the forests light up with colors, winter is still far away and you can practice all sports in the best conditions, from kayaking to mountain biking and trekking. September is also the ideal month for whale watching, strolling along the long Seawall Promenade or experience the provare il brivido del ponte sospeso Capilanosuspended bridge, a 137 meter long wooden walkway that crosses the river at a height of 70 meters in the park of the same name, north of the city .
