Nailing the perfect smart casual office look with the right balance of rigour and character

T

he world of business attire can be tricky. Not only does it extend to both sides of the formal/casual spectrum, but additional constraints are involved by the work environment and dress policy.
In some cases, escaping the standardized dark suit/conservative tie combination typical of the so-called boardroom (or business) formal attire can prove difficult. Yet if you’re not working in a traditional investment bank/white collar situation, there is still room for style, personality and creativity especially on the casual side.

If your job is more on the creative or networking/PR side, then you probably enjoy the privilege of being allowed to opt for a business casual dress code, a variation of smart casual style which relies on four basic elements: a blazer or a sport coat, a shirt, a pair of neatly pressed smart casual trousers, and relaxed but elegant shoes. Optional elements may include a nice jumper over your shirt in winter and the freedom to play with color and patterns to personalize your office look.

The Slowear Office Look

Nonchalant: this is the basic quality of the perfect office look for us at Slowear. Everything revolves around a well-tempered mix of dapper and relaxed elements.
Starting from the base, we picked a sleek pair of slim fit Incotex trousers from the Venezia 1951 line, a timeless classic in a modern and sophisticated grey flannel version, complemented by a versatile virgin wool high-collar sweater by Zanone worn over a soft chambray cotton French collared shirt.
Yet the focal point of the outfit is undoubtedly the Montedoro camel blazer, a gentlemanly gem of comfort and impeccable design that will have you looking perfect both in the office and on an evening out with friends. To complete the look, we added Officina Slowear’s derby shoes, our own take on an undisputed 19th century classic: handmade in Italy by expert artisans with premium calfskin.
