A Saturday in the name of taste, thanks to two special tastings that will be held in the Slowear Store in London on November 14th.
The protagonist is an all-Italian tradition, which has its roots in the past and which conquered the whole world over time. It is that of bitters and vermouths, traditionally and respectively used as a complete taste digestive for an after meal or as a base for countless cocktails.
Sons of the most ancient Italian tradition, in these years they are experiencing a true renaissance also thanks to their flexibility in preparing the most surprising cocktails: the emerging bartenders of London, New York and Berlin are giving them a second youth.
And precisely for this reason, innovative realities are emerging on the market, capable of interpreting aromatic and bitter wines in a super contemporary key.
The Vermouth, created by the Turin distiller Antonio Benedetto Carpano in 1786, has a very special history. A very early version of his recipe was used since the end of the ‘600 for medical purposes, thanks to its high digestive properties. But it was only after the limited exports of the fine Portuguese liqueur wines during the War of Spanish Succession that all over Europe began to work on an equally valid and tasty alternative.
And it was precisely from that research that Carpano gave birth to the "Vermut". Today it stands out among the most innovative and quality realities Oscar.697, which already appears from the contemporary bottle as a new way to consume the famous flavoured wine, far from clichés and nostalgia. The choice of base wine is also original: Trebbiano di Romagna, because it is more neutral and durable than traditional Muscat or Cortese.
Amaro VENTI is another avant-garde reality that has revived the Italian tradition of consuming a digestive drink after a meal. This particular bitter is created by 20 botanical plants from the 20 regions of Italy. To name just a few, the Taraceto, the Achillea, the Genziana, the Ginepro, the Ulivo. It is therefore a real aromatic tale, which unites the country from north to south.
The great merit of Amaro VENTI was to exploit the potential of using bitter not only as a digestive or as a base for cocktails to drink after a meal, but also as an exclusive and very tasty aperitif.
