Most of menswear is derived by military uniforms - they say - and nothing could more fitting with this sentence than the Bermuda shorts. Originated by the British Army, it was a smart solution to keep the uniform on, while adjusting it to the tropical weather in their colonies.
But its transformation from military pants to civilian clothes started in Bermuda during the Second World War when there was a shortage of clothing. The general managers of the two banks in Bermuda noticed that their employees would not have suitable clothing to wear during the working time. So they decided to ask to a local tailor to create a pairs of shorts for their employees, inspired by the shorts of the British Army. During the following years Bermuda shorts became more and more popular, not only on the island but also off.
